A hot tip: Board the stylish gondolas of Schmittenhöhebahn!

From now on, gondolas are more than just an ordinary means of transportation. Winter sports fans can already look forward to a great mountain experience on their way up to the summit. This is not only my personal opinion but has been the stated aim of the design team when brainstorming for innovative ideas for the renovation of the gondolas. And I am convinced that no other designers would have been better suited to accomplish this task in such brilliance as the creative minds of Zell’s Porsche Design-Studios did.
The Schmittenhöhebahn cable car has always been the heart of Zell’s local mountain and the follow-up models of the 41-year-old gondolas definitely enthral me with their one-of-a-kind design. What surprised me most was the fact that a pebble had been the inspiration for the shape of the gondolas which now boast an elegant, curved shell supported by an extremely sturdy aluminium framework. Schmittenhöhe is one of Europe’s largest open-air art galleries and its new landmark dovetails with this concept perfectly!
In just eight minutes the two new gondolas take up to 40 people to the summit of 2,000-metre-high Schmittenhöhe. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls reveal a stunning view at the fascinating mountain world. Extra wide doors make getting in and out super comfortable even with an armful of skiing and boarding gear. But that is not all! In one gondola, even a bar and a sensational multi-media system are available for private or corporate parties. It is obvious: the new Schmitten gondolas exceed all expectations!

Looks great, Porsche are starting to get things going off the ground!!
