‘Train vs. Plane’: bloggers in need of a holiday wanted!
Oct 14th, 2009 by Editors
Train or plane: which is the quicker, easier, and more comfortable way to reach Zell am See-Kaprun? In order to find this out we are sending two passionate bloggers on a journey! One of them gets on the train with bags and baggage while the other checks in at the terminal. Once they have arrived in the winter paradise of Zell am See-Kaprun they can look forward to one week of holidays that we will be paying for. Overnight stays at a star-winning hotel and a ski pass are included. And all that you have to do in return is to get behind the keyboard of your laptop and write regular contributions about your trip.
Feel like participating? Then apply now! Publish an article on your blog on why you think that you are the right person for this job and include a trackback to this page. By the end of October we will take a look at all the contributions and decide on two winners who – in our opinion – are ideally suited for this task and in dire need of a holiday in the pristine white snow of Zell am See-Kaprun. In the beginning of November, right on time for the start of the cold season, you will then set out on your journey.
For one of you the trip will start at the platform, for the other at the check-in at the airport. To determine who will go by plane and who by train, you will be drawing lots. And don’t forget to share your experiences in regular blog contributions! For one week we want to be up to date and know exactly what is going on during your holidays in Zell am See-Kaprun – during the journey, on the pistes, at the hotel, on a winter walking tour, while ice skating or engaging in one of the other manifold activities offered in the region.
We are looking forward to your application!

Great idea! Unfortunately I don’t ski. I guess, carrying skies with me is part of the game?
Being a passionate skier is no precondition. Zell am See-Kaprun offers dozens of different things to do… Maybe a walking tour in snowshoes is an idea for you? What we try to focus on are comfortable travelling options. All you need is your laptop!

Georgie and I will be applying for this, it’s a great idea and we are bang up for it. Fingers crossed!
Great idea to sell and publicise the area. Tips on the best way to travel always come in useful.
Good luck with the competition.
Great place/ snow/ people, keep going back, different routes depending on time of year. Scmittenhohe letter keeps you in touch.
I’ve visited Zell am See – Kaprun three times (but always in Summer) and absolutely LOVE it! It’s a pity I only read about the competition today – unfortunately I’m a day too late to enter. I have written an article on Zell am See on my website under Featured Destinations. Hope you enjoy it!
Who won in the end?
Together with my wife we were thinking the same: how should we get to Kaprun? We booked 8 days stay at a Gasthof zur Künstleralm hotel in Kaprun from 19th until 26th of December 2009.
We live in Iasi, Romania. There is no plain or train that goes directly to Zell am See or Kaprun. We don’t own a car either, because we do not want to pollute the earth and in a few years not to have any more snow. So we had to find a way to get to Zell am See-Kaprun.
We will take an international couch from our city to Wien or Graz. From there we’ll take a taxi to the grand station to get the train to Zell am See. From Zell am See we’ll take the regional bus to Kaprun. All this will take us 2 days. We hope it will not be to tiring.
See you on the slopes
