A foretaste of winter…
Oct 7th, 2009 by Christine Aberger
Yes, the winter season is just around the corner and all winter sports fans are already waiting impatiently for the first snowflakes to fall. The members of Zell’s vintage skiing club are already one step further: they grabbed the opportunity for some extra training at the Jever skiing hall in Neuss in Germany last weekend.
The Jever Skihalle is Germany’s largest indoor skiing region and offers pistes for beginners and pros as well as a funpark for boarders and freeskiers. And fans of tobogganing get their money’s worth, too. A lift takes them up to two tobogganing runs. And if this is not enough to warm your heart then you may want to drop in at an après-ski party or join a cosy evening get-together at a hut?
But let us finally answer the question preying on everyone’s mind: What are the skiers from Pinzgau clad in traditional equipment doing in a skiing hall in Germany?
In cooperation with the tourism association of the province of Salzburg (Salzburger Land Tourismus) and the local cable car companies, Zell am See-Kaprun touted the region. Eight members of the traditional skiing club as well as our colleague Veronika participated in the event in Neuss and are sure to have left a lasting impression with their one-of-a-kind, vintage equipment.
When it comes to Zell’s Nostalgia Ski Race those of us who have not had the chance to train yet can just hope that we will catch up in time…
