white start - the day after
Nov 11th, 2008 by Evelyn Thurner
With a broad smile and slightly sore muscles I am back at work. Thanks to the weblog of Zell am See-Kaprun I can grab the opportunity to recall the last weekend and think back of my skiing holiday spent right here at my very doorstep.
The white start event on Kitzsteinhorn has definitely been a worthy kick off into the winter season! Ski-equipment manufacturers like Atomic, Fischer, Salomon, Rossignol, and Blizzard could hardly fend off all the people, including myself, who were eager to put the latest models to the test. GORE-TEX displayed and tested different types of gloves and the beautiful girls at Alpina provided you with a helmet to guarantee for the necessary safety on the pistes. And then we set out to conquer the perfect pistes of Kitzsteinhorn equipped with the latest material the market has to offer. What an amazing experience to be back in skiing shoes and feel the pressure on the lower ski and the wind in your face.
Dashing down the slopes for the fifth time in a row, I noticed a curious sensation in my quadriceps femoris. The solution: dropping in at the massage drive-in right off the piste. At the Big Apple you could treat yourself to the full relaxation programme including shiatsu and back massages. Completely relaxed and at ease I would not have minded for the massage to go on and on.
But there was even more: of course every winter opening has to include an après-ski event. The band SteveMoCelli provided for some chilled vibes at the Big Apple and the show barkeepers served fantastic drinks with glacier ice. Enjoying a glass of Caipirinha and listening to the performance of a live band: that’s what holidays feel like! But now I have to stop day-dreaming! Come on! Back to work! But there is good news: even though the week only has just started: the next event is sure to come!
